What is this device used for?
This is a multifunctional electrical tester designed for safe, quick inspection of mains power sockets and circuits. It combines voltage measurement, frequency measurement, wiring checks, non-contact voltage detection, and RCD/ELCB trip testing in one compact tool — ideal for electricians, contractors, and DIY users.
How do I measure voltage with this device?
Simply insert the device into the socket or connect it to the circuit you wish to test. The voltage measurement function will display the live voltage reading on the screen, helping you verify that the supply is within the expected range (e.g., 230V or 120V depending on your region).
Can it measure the frequency of the mains supply?
Yes. The frequency measurement function checks the AC supply frequency (typically 50 Hz or 60 Hz), which is useful for confirming supply quality and diagnosing grid-related issues.
How does the Socket Wiring Check work?
Insert the device into the socket and it will automatically detect wiring faults such as open ground, open neutral, open live, reversed live/neutral, or reversed live/ground. Correct wiring and any detected faults are indicated clearly, so you can immediately see whether the socket is wired properly.
What is NCV Detection?
NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) detection allows you to detect the presence of AC voltage without touching the conductor. Bring the device near a wire, cable, switch, or outlet — if voltage is present, it will alert you via an indicator and/or audible signal. This is a fast and safe way to identify live lines before working on them.
Is there a flashlight for working in dark areas?
Yes. The built-in torch/flashlight provides illumination, making it convenient to locate sockets, read breaker panels, and work in dimly lit spaces such as basements, utility rooms, or ceilings.
How do I test an RCD/ELCB with this device?
Press the RCD/ELCB trip test button while the device is plugged in. The tester will create a controlled earth leakage current that should cause the Residual Current Device (RCD) or Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB) to trip. If the device does not trip, the RCD/ELCB may be faulty and should be inspected.
What is the N-E / L-E High Loop Check?
This function measures the loop impedance between Neutral–Earth (N-E) and Live–Earth (L-E). High loop impedance can indicate poor earthing, loose connections, or degraded wiring — all of which affect the safety and performance of the circuit. The check helps you identify such faults early.
Is this device safe for beginners?
The device is designed with safety features such as non-contact detection and automatic fault indication. However, any work involving mains electricity carries risk. Beginners should use it only for testing and inspection, wear appropriate protection, and consult a licensed electrician for repairs or rewiring.
Can this device replace a full electrical inspection?
No. It is an excellent tool for quick checks, fault screening, and routine verification (such as monthly RCD tests), but it does not replace a comprehensive inspection carried out with calibrated professional equipment and performed by a qualified electrician.
